  1. Whole heartedly agree. At the end of the day, Traktor just sounds better.
  2. Phase is a lot better now, and in fact, makes skratching on DVS systems sound way nicer. Don't even need Serato, from what I understand. Below is DJ Fong Fong with a Phase / Algoriddim DJay / iPhone setup.
  3. I'm sure you've noticed the absolutely annoying and distracting view counter that keeps updating every 20 seconds while watching videos, even if the number hasn't changed. Thank God for Reddit and uBlock though for a sound and simple solution... Add this to your uBlock filters: https://www.youtube.com/youtubei/v1/updated_metadata*
  4. I definitely don't want a large/upright piano, but instead a standalone keyboard, so perhaps a Synth. Thing is, I have a Native Instruments s88, which has a ton of options, aftermarket piano kits, etc, however, I pretty much only play The Gentleman sample pack—a piano from 1908. I barely mess with any of the effects either. I just love playing natural piano sounds, and to be transparent, I'm really working towards being a pianist, but one that doesn't read music. I know that sounds crazy, and unconventional, but I just have no interest playing other people's music (been doing so as a DJ for ages). At the end of the day, I just wanna play, not fiddle with shit. Anyways, thanks for the feedback guys. I'm looking into the options you suggested, such as the Korg SP-250 and Studiologic standalones with the Fatar keybed (also found on the NI S88). That keybed feels f'n awesome, so would love to continue with this hardware!!!
  5. Looking for used given my wants and budget. For instance, new Roland Fantoms are well outside of my financial means, but many of the used ones are affordable. Yeah, will likely hit up the local Guitar Center.
  6. What's up y'all??? As the title states, I'm in the market for a standalone 88 key keyboard with hammer like/weighted keys. Given my budget of $600 to $1000, I'm searching for something used, but of good quality. So far, I'm considering various Roland Fantoms and Korg Tritons. If anybody has experience with these machines, or other solid keyboards, please chime in. What's really important to me, aside from the standalone requirement, is that the keys feel real and thus not some cheap, weak ass plastic. Sincerely, JHouse
  7. For those of you that have fallen out of skratching on the regular, I really suggest cutting over curated Spotify, Pandora, etc. stations instead of just over loops—It has seriously resurrected my love for the art. I find myself being more musical instead of focusing too much on tech, too. Plus, I'm more inclined to skratch for substantially longer periods compared to loopers.

  8. From what I've learned from watching a ton of producer podcasts is that Mastering and Engineering take a gangload of time, so sometimes it's best to just outsource it unless you plan to master mastering. There are plenty of people on Fiverr that can handle it for you for a reasonable fee. I just suggest finding someone that has experience with your particular genre. My friend had a local guy master his hip-hop album years ago, however, the doot only had experience with rock-n-roll. As you could probably imagine, it didn't come out so well.
  9. Maybe ask your son what would he get if he had the loot? When I was about 7, my dad took me to the skateshop to pick out a skateboard for his colleague's son, knowing that I knew a bit about skateboards. I picked out a dope one, which I later received for Christmas. Was really surprised when I got it 'cause my pa told me (when I pressed for a new deck for Christmas) that he couldn't afford it. Thank God I was, and still am, naive AF. In any case, to this day it's the best present I've ever received.
  10. Me rikey.
  11. Understandable. I would prefer something standalone too.
  12. Have you tried the Maschine MK3? The pad sensitivity is f'n unbelievable, the workflow is phenomenal, and the aftermarket sound packs for it are dope AF. Very happy with this drum machine...it's literally one of the best purchases I've ever made.
  13. The light Rane faders is one of the reasons why I never really liked those mixers (even the old ones). Just couldn't get down with it. IMO, the Z2 with the Inno 2 is the perfect weight coupled with the perfect cut. And to your point, yeah, the Z2 has a warmer sound, which is another reason I absolutely love this mixer. It just sounds good. Haven't messed with the filters too much, but from what I've heard, they sound good. I namely use guitar pedals hooked up to my mixer, more specifically, the delay pedal — I f'n love that pedal! On a related note, I have a Mini Kaoss Pad hooked up to it too, but admittedly, it sounds like trash compared to traditional pedals, so I seldom use it. It's a very 'thin' sound. Anybody here tried the S9 or S11, and if so, what did you think of the fader, overall sound, etc?
