2025 is the year I finally learn to scratch strong hand on the fader (after I’ve mastered middle distance running).

On reflection, although I’m extraordinarily rich, I can’t face dropping £4k on a new setup I’ll barely use. Time to crack open those stupid gold turntables / mixer and try Phase.

Cheers. I think this all makes sense. What I am aiming for is something that looks like a traditional 2 deck + mixer setup, 12" type feel BUT avoiding using actual needles / record time code to get the scratch control. Hence even with the PLX-1000s I was thinking to put Phase on top of it just to avoid skipping / needle issues. I had an original Rane Twelve mk1 (just one though) and I got on with that OK. I have an S9 (well the S9-N, as it's the gold ltd edition one, unopened obvs).

What are the options for a full size platter digital scratch setup with Serato DJ Pro? From my limited research: 2x Rane 12mk2, but needs a DVS mixer (e.g. Rane-72 mk2) 2x Pioneer PLX-CRSS12, but again still needs DVS mixer (e.g., DJM-S11) Use my pre-existing unopened ltd edition Pioneer PLX-1000 traditional turntables, DJM-S9 mixer and perhaps get a Phase setup with it? I recall Phase was a bit ropey at launch. Seems like if I want to use my Rodec Scratchbox I have no choice other than to buy a little interface box? Anyone got any opinions on the above setups? Money not really the issue, I am getting too old for lots of workarounds or faff. Running a Mac Mini M4.

Might as well wait for next console generation now, whatever that means. I’ll hopefully be retired before GTA VII so that’s something to look forward to.

WAHAY I'm now on Windows 11 using my new ASUS NUC Pro. It's smaller than the Mac Mini, but has noticeable fan noise the stupid little bastard. Anyway this turd is for the wife and kids. The only joy I got setting it up for them was installing Chrome and clicking through all the Microsoft nags about how great Edge was and you really don't need Chrome. Hopefully this 2TB NVMe, 32Gig RAM, Intel Core Ultra 5 will be the last Windows PC I ever buy....

It’s basically a dongle type system? Like a hardware key, just for authorisation? Presumably you can still sell these on?

I guess docks and controllers are not backwards compatible. I’m thinking I just offload my original Switch and all its peripherals when I go Switch 2. Those 4 pairs of Joycons weren’t cheap.

Completed Split Fiction with my 8 yr old. Great fun. Pretty sure social services would be disgusted at the verbal abuse I gave her when she didn’t get various things timed properly. To be fair, she gave me some stick back and was much better at certain things in the game. I died way more.
